Church bell ringing near Newbury
Who we are
We are the Newbury Branch of the Oxford Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers, which is affiliated to the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers. Our 29 church towers in and around the Newbury area range from towers in regular use, those rung by appointment only, to a small number that are currently unringable.
New ringers are welcomed, as well as experienced ringers who have moved to the area and visiting ringers from outside the Branch.
For details of our towers, go to the List of Towers where you will find ringing times, locations, contact details, and more. An overview of the practice times for all towers can be found here.
Each year the Marshall Shield is awarded in recognition of outstanding effort by a tower in a way that affects the day-to-day running at the tower, such as fundraising for bell restoration. Information about the Marshall Shield and its previous winners can be found here.
