DESCRIPTION:From: The Branch Chairman\, Martin Rice.At the Branch AGM we decided to hold a Branch 6-bell Striking Competition this summer.  I have booked the bells at St Mary’s\, Shaw for the occasion for the evening of Friday\, July 1st.\nI do hope your tower will enter a band.  The rules for entering are that the majority of your band are from your tower and that you ring for about 5 minutes.  You can have a few minutes practice immediately before your ‘proper’ ringing\, and when you are ready to start\, ring two whole-pulls on the treble to alert the judge.\nWhat you ring is up to you\, but it is expected that most bands will ring what they would for a Sunday service: probably call-changes or 120 of Grandsire Doubles.  The judging will be based on the evenness and pleasantness of the ringing\, rather than its complexity.\nAt the end of the evening we will pick a band to go forward to represent our Branch at the Guild 6-bell competition.  This will also be at Shaw\, by the way\, on Saturday\, October 1st.  But don’t let that put you off coming to our local event!  Come and show what you can do.\nSome idea of the number of bands hoping to come would be helpful\, if you could let me or Mark know.
